Challenge

Two ways to lose: stock out, or over-order

Gentlehomme builds elevated menswear essentials — the kind of core pieces customers come back for. That makes a stockout especially costly: when a staple style runs dry, the sale doesn't just pause, it often walks to another brand. But the opposite mistake hurts just as much. Over-order to feel safe, and the cash that should fund the next drop sits folded on a shelf for months.

Walking that line by feel — checking stock levels, eyeballing what felt like it was moving, and placing orders when something looked low — left too much room for error. The signal a stockout creates is invisible in the data: once a size sells out, it simply stops selling, which quietly drags the forecast down and hides how much real demand there was.

What the team wanted wasn't a heavier system. It was a clear, trustworthy answer to a simple question, repeated across every SKU: what do we actually need to reorder, and when — without locking up cash we can't spare?

We needed control over inventory planning and cash flow, not another dashboard to babysit.
Solution

A clear, per-SKU plan instead of a gut call

Forstock connected to Gentlehomme's live Shopify sales and stock and started forecasting each style on its own — correcting for the demand hidden while a size was out of stock, so the plan reflected real demand rather than an inventory-capped ceiling.

From there, the reorder view does the heavy lifting: it shows exactly which styles need a purchase order and when, with lead time, safety stock, and order minimums already factored in. The team can see the reasoning behind every quantity, so a reorder is a decision they understand — not a number they're trusting blind.

The thing that made it stick was that it felt usable on day one. As the team put it, the interface is simple, clear, and actually actionable — close enough to how they already think about the business that it slotted into the workflow instead of fighting it.
