FAQ

Questions, answered straight.

Everything about how Forstock forecasts, reorders, and replaces Stocky — and the honest boundaries of what it does and doesn't do.

Product & forecasting

What does Forstock actually do?+

Forstock is an inventory intelligence platform for ecommerce brands. It forecasts demand for every SKU months ahead, tells you exactly what to reorder and when, and lets you create, split, and receive purchase orders by supplier — with received stock synced back to Shopify. The goal is one trustworthy answer to 'what do I buy, and when?'

How is Forstock's forecast different from a simple average?+

Most tools flatten your sales into an average, which hides the truth — a product that sells five units a day then two hundred on launch day has no meaningful average. Forstock forecasts each SKU day by day, and corrects for the sales you lost while out of stock (true demand), so you plan against real demand rather than an inventory-capped ceiling.

Does Forstock forecast per SKU and per location?+

Yes. Forecasts run per variant, and you can plan across locations and channels. You see plan vs. actual vs. last year by month, in units or revenue, and you can edit any number — Forstock plans around your input.

Is the forecast a black box?+

No. Same inputs, same answer, every time. When Forstock recommends a reorder quantity it shows the working — current cover, burn rate, lead time, safety stock, MOQ, and pack size — so you can check the number yourself before you act.

Does Forstock handle seasonality and promotions?+

Yes. Real demand is lumpy — launches spike, promotions distort, seasons swing — so the forecast looks ahead day by day rather than smoothing your history into one flat number.

Reordering & purchase orders

How does Forstock decide how much to reorder?+

It works back from when each SKU will run out, factoring lead time, safety stock, MOQ, and pack size, then rounds to a sensible order quantity — and shows you why. You stay in control: every recommendation is editable.

Can I create purchase orders in Forstock?+

Yes. Generate POs from the SKUs that need ordering, grouped by supplier. You can split a PO by delivery or location, send it, and mark it received. Received stock then updates Shopify.

Does receiving a PO update my Shopify stock?+

Yes — when you receive items against a purchase order, Forstock syncs the stock back into Shopify so your inventory stays accurate without manual adjustments.

Can I set different rules per SKU?+

Yes. Set safety stock, target cover, MOQ, pack size, and lead time per SKU, and bulk-edit hundreds of products at once from one view.

Suppliers & data

Does Forstock track supplier lead times and MOQs?+

Yes. Each supplier carries its own lead time, MOQ, and pack size, and those feed directly into your reorder recommendations and purchase orders.

Can Forstock split an order across suppliers or locations?+

Yes. POs are grouped by supplier, and you can split a single order by delivery date or destination location in a few clicks.

What data does Forstock use to forecast?+

Your live sales and stock history from the channels you connect. Forstock keeps one current picture rather than a spreadsheet copy that drifts out of date the moment something sells.

Channels & integrations

Which channels does Forstock support?+

Forstock connects to Shopify and unifies sales and stock across other channels you sell on, including Amazon and Walmart, into one view — so you plan against total demand, not a single store.

Is Forstock built for Shopify?+

Yes — Forstock is a Shopify app and installs from the Shopify App Store. It's multichannel on top of that, so brands selling beyond Shopify get one consistent picture.

How long does setup take?+

Connect your store, let Forstock read your sales and stock, and you'll see stock risk and reorder recommendations quickly — most brands reach a first useful outcome in their first session.

Migrating from Stocky

Is Forstock a good replacement for Stocky?+

Yes. Forstock covers the parts of Stocky merchants relied on most — demand forecasting, reorder suggestions, purchase orders, and supplier settings — and adds true (stockout-adjusted) demand and multichannel support. Stocky fully shuts down on August 31, 2026.

Can you help me migrate off Stocky?+

Yes — for the first cohort of switchers we offer free concierge migration: we import your Stocky data, rebuild your suppliers and settings, and validate a full reorder cycle with you. There's a step-by-step checklist and a free Supplier Export Template on our migration page.

Stocky can't export suppliers — what do I do?+

That's the one thing to handle by hand before August 31, 2026. Our free Supplier Export Template gives you a structured place to record each vendor's lead time, MOQ, and pack size, ready to import into Forstock.

Pricing & plans

How much does Forstock cost?+

Pricing scales with your store's revenue, starting at $79/month, with around 15% off when billed annually. You can see every tier on our pricing page, and start with a free trial from the Shopify App Store.

Is there a free trial?+

Yes — you can start a free trial directly from the Shopify App Store, no credit card required to explore.

Why pick Forstock over heavier planning tools?+

Forstock is the lighter, faster-to-value end of the market: clear reorder decisions, supplier-ready POs, and hands-on help, without enterprise complexity. If you want a planning layer that's quick to operationalize and Shopify-native, that's the fit.

Security & support

How do I get help setting up?+

Book a demo and we'll tailor it to your SKU count and categories, or email us — hands-on setup help is part of how we work, not an upsell. Switching off Stocky? Ask about free concierge migration.

What is Forstock NOT built for?+

Forstock focuses on ecommerce demand planning and reordering. It is not an ERP or accounting system, and it does not do shelf-life/expiry (FEFO) planning, raw-material/BOM/manufacturing planning, or service-level optimization. If those are your core need, Forstock isn't the right fit.

How do you handle my data?+

Forstock connects to your store with the access you grant and uses your sales and stock data to power forecasts and reorder recommendations. See our privacy policy for the full detail on how data is handled.
